Stainless Steel 309/309S is an austenitic chromium-nickel alloy that contains about 22–24% Chromium and 12–15% Nickel. The SS 309S variant is the low-carbon version of SS 309, which enhances weldability and reduces the risk of carbide precipitation. Both grades boast excellent high-temperature strength, with a minimum tensile strength of 75 ksi (515 MPa) and a yield strength of 30 ksi (205 MPa).
